LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) — A family of four whose bodies were found in shallow graves late last year has been memorialized by friends and relatives at a Southern California church.
The Orange County Register says (http://bit.ly/1dlldYA http://bit.ly/1dlldYA ) about 200 people filled the VineyardCommunity Church in Laguna Niguel Saturday to remember Joseph and Summer McStay and their two young sons.
Michael McStay, Joseph's brother, tells the newspaper he found peace "remembering the goodness" in the lives of his loved ones.
A paddle-out in the family's memory was held later in the day off San Clemente pier. The couple and their two boys, ages 3 and 4, vanished nearly four years ago.
In November their skeletons were found in the desert near Hemet, about 100 miles from their San Diego County home.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is investigating the deaths as homicides.
