L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas and his office have not explained why County workers spent $10,000 remodeling a detached garage at his home near LeimertPark.

No building permits were filed for the project that converted the garage into a home-office complete with air conditioning, new walls, wiring, and a flat-screen TV.

Supervisors are entitled to security upgrades at public expense. It’s not clear if Ridley-Thomas reimbursed the County for work that went beyond that.
