Trabuco Canyon Fire Destroys Unoccupied Cabins

TRABUCO CANYON (CNS) - Two cabins were completely destroyed by a fire in Holy Jim Canyon near Trabuco Canyon tonight and firefighters were working to extinguish three nearby brush fires totaling about two acres, fire officials  said.

The structure fire was reported at 6:04 p.m. and the flames were extinguished about 45 minutes later, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange  County Fire Authority.

The cabins were unoccupied at the time of the fire, he said.

Police were working to evacuate nearby residents and had closed Live Oak Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads leading into Holy Jim Canyon, according to Concialdi.

Three strike teams were called to the scene. It's unclear when the brush fires will be extinguished, Concialdi said.
