EAST LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A woman suffered serious injuries today after her face was slashed and then jumped out of a vehicle in East Los Angeles,  police said.

The stabbing was reported at 1:49 p.m. in the 3200 block of East Cesar Chavez Avenue, said spokesman Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The woman -- a passenger in an unidentified vehicle -- had the side of her face cut, overheard a possible threat to her life and jumped out of the car, Lt. Gulley of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He declined to give his first name.

Initial reports indicated her throat was slashed, Gulley said. There were possibly two other people in the car, but their description was not immediately available, he added

The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious to critical injuries, Scott said.

She was interviewed by detectives, but was uncooperative, Gulley said.
