LA MESA, Calif. (AP) — The mother of two toddlers who drowned in a San DiegoCounty swimming pool has pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child endangerment.
U-T San Diego reports 28-year-old Tassie Behrens entered the plea Monday could get four years and seven months in prison when she's sentenced in September.
Authorities said they found a marijuana cultivation operation at the house with the pool where Behrens and her kids were staying. She'd also faced drug charges, but those were dismissed with her plea.
In May 2013, Behrens had slept at a friend's house in La Mesa and woke to find 16-month-old Harley Bradford and 2-year-old Jason Bradford face down in the pool with no fence.
The children died at a hospital. Their deaths were ruled accidental.
