A big disaster aid package is headed to the Senate after passage by the House yesterday.  The more than $36 billion measure aims to help victims of recent hurricanes and California's raging wildfires.  The vote was 353-69.  Some conservatives grumbled that the measure is not being offset by spending cuts in other areas.  The Senate is expected to take it up next week after senators return from a recess.  Congress approved a $15 billion aid package last month after Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

That was before Hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and before the devastating fires in California.
