The Thomas Fire in Ventura County is showing no signs of slowing down. Officials say the fire has now burned about 90,000 acres and is five percent contained. About 150 structures have been destroyed according to authorities. Officials haven't specified whether they were businesses or homes.
The fire began Monday night and was whipped out of control thanks to some strong Santa Ana winds. Many Ventura County homeowners were in disbelief on how a wildfire caused so much damage in such little time.
Many homes in the area were burned to the ground and many more remain under threat. One apartment building in downtown Ventura was destroyed, as well as a behavioral health center.
More than 50,000 people were evacuated from the area from 15,000 homes in the area.
