Assemblymember Wants Sessions To Respect California Cannabis Laws

A California Assemblymember wants the legislature to formally condemn Attorney General Jeff Session's threat to crack down on legal marijuana.  Democrat Evan Low of Silicon Valley has introduced a resolution calling for Sessions to respect California's cannabis laws.

In a news release, Low says Sessions is "stuck in the Reefer Madness era"  and says the crackdown undermines state autonomy and wastes public safety resources better spent on the opioid crisis.  Earlier this month, Sessions rescinded the Obama Justice Department policy that discouraged federal prosecutions of marijuana cases in states that have legalized it.
