California Governor Mobilizes National Guard

California Governor Jerry Brown is mobilizing 400 California National Guard personnel to combat transnational crime.  Brown's office released a statement yesterday saying the Guard would be deployed within the state, along the coast and at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Guard's mission will be to fight smugglers, gangs, and human traffickers.  Brown's statement also specifies that the Guard will not enforce immigration laws or participate in building a wall along the border.

Earlier this month, President Trump called for up to four-thousand National Guard troops to be deployed to the border to aid the Border Patrol.  Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico have already sent hundreds of Guard members.
