Police Arrest Suspect At Scene of L.A. House Fire

A massive police response in the Harbor Gateway area was prompted by reports of an "active shooter" following a structure fire. Police in Gardena say they have arrested a shooted who is accused of killing one person.

Firefighters were called to a two-story structure fire in the 15000 block of Orchard Avenue early Tuesday morning, but were pushed back after hearing gunfire.

"Subsequent to the structure fire being extinguished, shots were  fired on scene,'' an LAFD statement said. That turned the scene into "a barricaded- suspect incident.''

The Los Angeles Police Department was put on tactical alert after one woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim did not survive.

Four adults and one child were displaced by the fire according to the LAFD. The American Red Cross was sent to assist them, officials said.

The accused shooter was arrested by SWAT officers around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning following a standoff that lasted for more than an hour.

This is a developing story. More details will be added as they become available.
