JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK (CNS) - Forest rangers and volunteers continue to search for 51-year-old Paul Miller more than a month after the Canadian man left his 29 Palms hotel for a hike in the Joshua Tree National Park, officials said.
Miller was last seen July 13 when he left his wife at their hotel room to hike Fortynine Palms Oasis, the National Parks Service said on Twitter.
"More rescuers are now concentrating on more remote sections of the greater Fortynine Palms Oasis area,” the parks service said. Due to steep ravines and cliffs, technical specialists with high-angle rescue skills are being used to complete grid searches in the northern section of the 794,000- acre park.”
Over 600 searchers have put in more than 6,000 hours searching for the Guelph, Ontario man, officials said.
Rescuers have started their operations at 4 a.m. due to triple-digit temperatures, officials said.
