Honda Center Discontinues Plastic Straws

ANAHEIM (CNS) - Honda Center's vendors will no longer use single-use plastic straws beginning today with the Anaheim Ducks first home preseason game of 2018.

Instead, recyclable paper straws will be available to customers who request one. A limited number of plastic straws will be made available for anyone with “special needs,” officials said.

“At Honda Center we continually look for ways to be more environmentally friendly,” said Tim Ryan, Honda Center's president and chief executive and Anaheim Ducks vice president and chief operating officer.

“This is a small step that we ask our guests to take with us to advance the long-term sustainability goals of the arena. By making the switch, we will replace an annual average of over 750,000 plastic straws.”
