Stop Everything: Costco is Selling a 24-Pound Cheese 'Wedding Cake'

costco selling 24-pound "wedding cake" made out of five different cheeses

Attention all couples who plan on getting married this year: we just found your wedding cake for sale at Costco.

The 'Sid Wainer & Son Cheese Lover Artisian Wedding Cake' is made up of five different gourmet cheese hailing from around the world: Red Leicester, Danish Blue, Murcia al Vino, Tuscan Sheep's Cheese, and Brillat Savarin Triple Cream Brie.

The cheesy wedding cake can feed around 105 to 150 people (depending on how lactose-tolerant your guests are) and costs $439.99 on Costco's website which ends up being about $18.33 per pound of cheese (or less than $5 a head depending on how many guests are sharing the cake).

Since a traditional wedding cake can run people anywhere between $350 and $450 nationwide, a cheese wedding cake is a great way for your nuptials to stand out and be unique without breaking the bank.

"Comprised of gourmet cheeses sourced from around the world, the Cheese Lover Celebration Cake is a striking and delicious alternative to a classic centerpiece, cake, or cheese board," reads the description on Costco's website.

The cake doesn't arrive assembled, so it's up to you to stack the cheese. Costco advises customers to "Immediately transfer the wrapped cheese wheels into refrigeration until you are ready to use and assemble. When you are ready to assemble, take the cheese out of refrigeration, unwrap it and start stacking with the largest wheel on the bottom and end with the smallest on top.”

Then, it's up to you to decorate the cake/centerpiece with flowers, ribbons, or even edible garnishes. The box it's shipped in doesn't include any decorating tools, so you're on your own with that. You can order the product on Costco's website and have it shipped directly to your door.

Due to the cheese's perishable nature, the company says they only ship three days out of the week to make sure it gets to you on time and in good condition.

Of course, if you're not a fan of cheese (who are you?), then can we interest you in a nearly seven-pound bucket of Nutella?
