Over $300,000 Raised For Family Of Boy Thrown Off Mall Of America Balcony

Just days after a five-year-old boy was thrown off a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, thousands of people from all around the world have donated over $320,000 to help the boy's family cover his medical expenses.

Landen Hoffmann was grabbed by 24-year-old Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda and thrown off the balcony, landing on the tile floor 40 feet below. The young boy miraculously survived the fall as bystanders ran to give him first aid. He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"The child is still alive, he's still receiving care, and I think we're just asking for thoughts and prayers for that child to recover," Police Chief Jeff Potts said.

Aranda, who had been previously banned from the mall, was arrested after officials found him hiding in the mall's transit station. He is being held on suspicion of attempted homicide, and authorities say they expect to charge him on Monday (April 15).
