Domestic Battery Suspect Julio Urías Reinstated to Dodgers Roster

Los Angeles Dodgers v Milwaukee Brewers

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - MLB announced today that Los Angeles Dodgers left- handed pitcher Julio Urías has been reinstated from administrative leave while its investigation connected to his arrest on suspicion of domestic battery continues.

Urias was put on seven-day administrative leave on May 14, the day after he was accused by witnesses of shoving his girlfriend in the parking lot of the Beverly Center. Authorities reviewed surveillance footage, but MLB has been unable to obtain video of the incident, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Under terms of MLB's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse and Child Abuse Policy, the initial period of administrative leave may last up to seven days, barring an extension.

Urías, 22, and his girlfriend insisted the incident was only a verbal altercation, according to law enforcement officials, but the video indicated the woman was pushed, according to a person familiar with the police probe, The Times reported.

Urías is with the Dodgers in St. Petersburg, Florida, where they will begin a two-game interleague series against the Tampa Bay Rays tonight, a team official confirmed.

The Dodgers optioned outfielder Kyle Garlick to their Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City to make room for Urías on the roster.
