'IT Chapter Two' Leads Box Office With $40.7 Million

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - “IT Chapter Two” held onto its lead at the box office this weekend, taking in $40.7 million at theaters in the United States and Canada, according to industry estimates released today.

Second place went to “Hustlers,” a crime drama starring Jennifer Lopez that grossed $33.2 million in its opening weekend, according to Comscore.

After that came a steep dropoff, as the action film “Angel Has Fallen” took third place with $4.4 million Friday through Sunday, followed by “Good Boys” with $4.2 million and “The Lion King” with $3.5 million.

Rounding out the top 10 releases were “Hobbs & Shaw” ($2.7 million), “Overcomer” ($2.7 million), “The Goldfinch” ($2.6 million), “The Peanut Butter Falcon” ($1.9 million) and “Dora And The Lost City of Gold” ($1.8 million).
