Small Plane Crashes in Torrance; One Dead, One Critical

TORRANCE (CNS) - One person was killed today and another was critically injured in the crash of a small plane onto the roof of a commercial building east of Torrance Municipal Airport.

Firefighters were sent to the 25300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard shortly after noon, according to the Torrance Fire Department.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured person.

Preliminary information indicated that a single-engine Cessna 177 with two people aboard crashed shortly after departing via Runway 11R at the airport, according to Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration,

Traffic was routed away from the area while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the crash.
