Suspect Arrested After Pursuit Leads to CHP Motorcycle Officer Crash

NORTHRIDGE (CNS) - A vehicle-pursuit suspect was apprehended today in the Northridge area, where a responding California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was injured in a crash, according to the CHP.

The driver was wanted for assault on an officer, according to the CHP, which reported that the chase started about 1:20 p.m. in the area of Devonshire Street and Balboa Boulevard.

The crash occurred about 1:45 p.m. near Devonshire Street and Zelzah Avenue, according to the CHP.

The injured male officer was taken to a hospital in undisclosed condition, according to reports.

The suspect vehicle -- believed to be a silver or gray sedan -- kept going, and the motorist reportedly abandoned it at an apartment complex in the area of Yolanda Avenue and Gledhill Street and fled on foot.

The suspect was apprehended about 3:40 p.m., according to the CHP. Details of the apprehension were not immediately available.

A passenger who had been in the vehicle was detained earlier, the CHP reported.
