L.A. County Health Officials Report 19th Local Measles Case

Measles Virus

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles County health officials have reported a confirmed case of measles in a local resident who recently visited a Palms area Starbucks and spent a day at Disneyland.

Health officials said the person may have exposed others at two locations on Oct. 16.

Those locations are:

-- 7:50 a.m to 10 a.m. at a Starbucks at 3006 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles;

-- 9:15 a.m to 8:35 p.m. at Disneyland, 1313 Disneyland Dr., Anaheim.

Anyone who thinks they may have been exposed at those locations should review their immunization records to determine if they are protected, and if not, call a health care provider. People who are exposed can develop measles up to 21 days after exposure.

The latest case brings to 19 the number of measles infections among county residents this year, in addition to 11 non-resident cases that traveled through the county -- excluding Long Beach and Pasadena, which have their own health departments and track their own cases.
