Average L.A. County Gas Price Drops For 15th Consecutive Day

U.S. Gas Prices Expected To Rise To Highest Levels Since 2014

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 15th consecutive day, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.968, its lowest amount since Sept. 26.

The average price has dropped 16.1 cents over the past 15 days, including 1.5 cents on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 9.5 cents less than one week ago and 21.8 cents lower than a month ago but 30.6 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 16th consecutive day, decreasing 1.3 cents to $3.909, its lowest amount since Sept. 26. It has dropped 17.9 cents over the past 16 days, including 1.6 cents on Tuesday.

The Orange County average price is 10.2 cents less than a week ago and 23.9 cents lower than one month ago but 30 cents more than a year ago.

Decreasing prices are customary for this time of year because demand is at its lowest and the winter-blend gasoline being sold at stations costs less to produce than the summer blend because its additives are cheaper, according to Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California.
