LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti appointed new general managers Thursday to lead the city Department of Aging and the Department of Recreation and Parks.

Jaime H. Pacheco-Orozco, a 20-year city employee, was named the head of the Department of Aging, while Jimmy Kim, a 26-year veteran employee, will lead the Department of Recreation and Parks.

"Los Angeles deserves leaders who uphold the highest standards of public service, and are passionate about improving every day life for every Angeleno," Garcetti said in a statement. "Jaime and Jimmy are proven leaders, with proven track records delivering results for Los Angeles. I'm proud to welcome them into these new positions, and I have no doubt they will serve the city with integrity and compassion."

Pacheco-Orozco has spent the last three years as the assistant executive director of the Department of Disability. He was previously division chief of the Workforce Development System. He will replace interim General Manager Mariella Freire-Reyes.

Kim began his city career as a junior lifeguard, working his way up through the ranks and serving for the past year as assistant general manager of Recreation Services. He will replace retiring General Manager Mike Shull.
