KENS5-TV reports: “According to the latest numbers, to day, the city has paid at least $315,000, with other invoices pending. The city faces two lawsuits and a federal investigation nearly 10 months after city council voted to exclude the popular restaurant chain from coming to the San Antonio International Airport...”
In response to the original decision by San Antonio City Council to ban Chick-fil-A, state lawmakers in Austin passed the "Save Chick-fil-A" law, which "prohibits government entities from taking "adverse actions" against businesses or individuals because of their religious beliefs or moral convictions.”
Gov. Abbott also announced his support of state attorney general Ken Paxton opening an investigation into potential religious discrimination by the San Antonio City Council.
In a letter to city council back in March, Paxton wrote “the Constitution's protection of religious liberty is somehow even better than Chick-fil-A's chicken. Unfortunately, I have serious concerns that both are under assault at the San Antonio airport."
