Republican leaders in Ector County (Odessa area) have had enough of Gov. Greg Abbott unilaterally imposing his executive orders on Texans.
Last straw came last week with his statewide mask mandate.
The Ector County Republican Party passed their resolution condemning Abbott on July 4th.
They say in their resolution that Abbott failed to:
“...preserve the freedoms of Texans when he enacted executive orders that resulted in the denial of due process to millions of Texans, constituted takings without just compensation by closing businesses without just cause, denied the people the right to freedom of assembly, and imposed onerous mandates, fines, and imprisonment upon the people; and...
...violated the fourth provision of the core principles, by exceeding the powers of government limited under the Constitutions of the United States and of the State of Texas; and
...violated the ninth provision of the core principles by abruptly and ruthlessly closing private businesses causing millions of Texans to face unemployment, treating certain people as “unessential”, further harassing small business owners with bureaucratic regulators, and devastating the Texas economy...”
They are calling on Abbott to be formally censured by the state Republican party at the convention that will be held later this month here in Houston.
They put out a statement on the 4th of July about their resolution saying:
“...we will no longer sit quietly while he (Abbott) over reaches his authority again, again, and again.”
