'Alita: Battle Angel' Opens As Top-Grossing Film

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The science-fiction movie ``Alita: Battle Angel,'' directed by Robert Rodriquez and produced by James Cameron, debuted atop the box office on Presidents Day weekend with $27.8 million, according to industry estimates out today.

``Lego Movie 2: The Second Part'' claimed second place by taking in $21.2 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, according to Comscore.

``Isn't It Romantic?'' debuted in third place with $14.2 million.

The comedy ``What Men Want'' was fourth with an estimated $10.9 million.

The horror sequel ``Happy Death Day 2U'' was fifth with $9.8 million in its debut weekend.

Rounding out the top 10 releases were ``Cold Pursuit'' ($6 million), ``The Upside'' ($5.5 million), ``Glass'' ($3.8 million), ``The Prodigy'' ($3.1 million) and ``Green Book'' ($2.7 million).
