LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A taxi driver was stabbed to death near a fast food restaurant in downtown Los Angeles and his attacker was at large this morning.
Officers responded at 6 p.m. Friday to a fire department call for backup at the location near a Burger King restaurant at the intersection of Grand and Cesar E. Chavez avenues, where a crowd had gathered, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison.
“Brutal stabbing, the most brutal act I've ever seen,” witness Michael Bullard told NBC4.
The victim was reported to be a man in his 40s, Madison said.
“The guy knocked him down and stabbed him right in front of me,” Bullard said. “(The suspect) went back into the car, looked for some money or something, went to reverse the car, he was going to run the guy over, then took off running.”
A male suspect was last seen fleeing from the location, heading toward Hill Street on Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, Madison said.
A detailed description of the suspect, who had a beard and was wearing a black zip-up sweater and black pants, was not immediately available.
