TOPANGA (CNS) - Sections of Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Pacific Coast Highway and Mulholland Drive will be closed overnight -- or will have one- way traffic control -- beginning tonight so crews can repair pavement and stabilize hillsides affected by past winter storms, Caltrans announced.

Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be fully closed overnight between PCH and Grand View Drive between 11:30 tonight and 5 a.m. Tuesday; and again from 11:30 p.m. Tuesday through 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Also, because of roadway striping, there will be one-way traffic control along parts of Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Mulholland Drive and Grand View Drive from 8 tonight through 6 a.m. Tuesday; and again from 8 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Roadway striping will result in one-way traffic control along parts of Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Mulholland Drive and PCH from 8 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday; from 8 p.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday; and from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday.

All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes. The town of Topanga will remain open to motorists. Drivers can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap at quickmap.dot.ca.gov.

The work is part of two separate contracts to make repairs along Topanga Canyon Boulevard, including a $2.9 million SB 1-funded pavement project that extends from PCH to Mulholland Drive; and an $11 million slope stabilization project between PCH and Grand View Drive to repair eroded slope embankments along the highway after multiple debris slides caused full closures of the highway during winter storms.
