Netflix Renews 'Ozark' For Expanded Fourth & Final Season

Ozark is coming to an end.

On Tuesday (June 30), Netflix announced the crime thriller has been renewed for a fourth and, unfortunately, final season. It's not all bad news, though. While Ozark is ramping up for a conclusion, the streaming platform announced that the final season will have an expanded number of episodes and air in two parts.

Showrunner Chris Mundy is set to return as writer and executive producer and will reunite with star Jason Bateman as the "creative forces behind both parts of the new season," People reports. Stars Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan and Lisa Emery are also set to return for the expanded final season.

Bateman teased an exciting conclusion to the crime drama in a statement. "A supersized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes," the actor said. "I'm excited to end with a bang(s)." Mundy also chimed in, adding that the whole Ozark team is "so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes' saga right. It's been such a great adventure for all of us — both on screen and off — so we're thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible."

Netflix's vice president of original content Cindy Holland added: "Ozark is a gripping drama that has captivated audiences all around the world and garnered tremendous critical acclaim. We're so grateful to Chris, Jason, Laura, Julia and the entire cast and crew for all their tireless dedication to the show and can't wait to see how the Byrdes' journey comes to a close."

Few other details are currently known about the upcoming final season of Ozark, including when the new episodes will drop on Netflix. The third season hit Netflix in March, though, so it's likely viewers will have plenty of time to catch up before the fourth season premieres.
