Trump’s Mt. Rushmore Speech Makes Clear He Will Not Bend

Buck Sexton, the host of “The Buck Sexton Show,” said Monday that President Trump’s speech on Friday at the base of Mt. Rushmore struck the perfect tone, was historical and was further proof that he will not bend the knee to the angry mob.

Sexton pointed to Trump’s comment that the monument in South Dakota “will never, ever be destroyed” and their “achievements will never be forgotten. And Mt. Rushmore will stand forever as an eternal tribute to our forefathers and to our freedom.”

The speech came at a time that protests have called for the removal of statues of the forefathers over any hint of impropriety in the subject’s life.

Sexton said the speech—that was widely panned by the mainstream media as being “red meat” for his base—showed a president that will “not cave on the issue of the desecration of monuments, that he believes that our shared history as Americans is important to us and that he’s willing to take action to defend it.”

The host said it is interesting to compare Trump’s comment how Democrats view the country's history. (This is all new, by the way, an embarrassing video emerged of Sen. Bernie Sanders on CNN a few years ago gushing over the monument and its achievement prior to the network’s new-found wokeness.)

“But hatred of America has always been a part of the Democrat Party, but in 2020 it has really become a central theme,” Sexton said.

Sexton said that the party has become so deranged in their hatred for Trump. They feel that since Trump was elected, Americans clearly have not learned and sought the proper forgiveness from their racist pasts.

“They view Trump’s election as evidence that we have not come that far as a country,” Sexton said. But he said Democrats have now latched on to, “America, disappointing humanity since 1776.”

Sexton offered his own personal philosophy on what it means to love America.

“To celebrate America is like to love a family member or a close friend,” he said. “That’s not to say that the person is perfect. But it’s to say that you recognize what a gift that human being is in your life. We have been given a gift of this country and for reasons of just pure ideological spite, Democrats have embraced the widespread belief that America is so deeply flawed that, as Biden said recently, he wishes to be elected so he can transform it.”
