Mountain Dew Creates Red Lobster's First Cocktail: The 'Dew Garita'

Well, this is a collaboration we never saw coming. Red Lobster and PepsiCo are teaming up to create interesting new cocktails, which will be served at the seafood chain's locations around the country. Their first offering? A Mountain Dew-based Margarita.

According to USA Today, The "DEW Garita" will be rolling out to select restaurants in September and expected to be available nationwide by the end of 2020. The bright green cocktail consists of the citrus-flavored soda, tequila and a few other "special ingredients."

Red Lobster gave customers a sneak peak of the Mountain Dew-based cocktail on their Instagram account. "It’s big. It’s green. And it tastes even more incredible than it looks! Introducing the NEW! DEW Garita," the seafood chain wrote.

“The DEW Garita is the first delicious taste of the types of inspired menu items to come," Nelson Griffin, Red Lobster senior vice president and chief supply chain officer, said in the release. So, yes, customers can expect more unique cocktails to be added to the Red Lobster menu in the future, just in case you were wondering.

Hugh Roth, PepsiCo Global Foodservice chief customer officer, also chimed in on the press release, writing that PepsiCo and Red Lobster hope to "wow guests" with their concoctions. "We can’t wait to dream up more phenomenal flavor pairings together to bring some very special offerings and experiences to the table," Roth concluded.

While we all wait to see what Red Lobster and PepsiCo dream up next, both brands suggest pairing DEW Garita with Red Lobster's famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits. The new drink will be exclusively served at Red Lobster locations nationwide.
