Queen Elizabeth Marks 73rd Anniversary With Rare Photo Of Prince Philip

On Thursday (November 20), Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. The pair celebrated their anniversary at their residence at Windsor Castle by reading adorable handmade cards from their great grandchildren.

Her Majesty publicly marked the special occasion by sharing a rare photo of herself with her husband on the Royal Family's official Instagram account. Prince Philip, who celebrated his 99th birthday over the summer, retired from public life back in 2017. Since stepping down from his royal duties, the Duke of Edinburgh is not often seen by the public anymore.

"This new image has been released to mark the 73rd wedding anniversary of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh," the Royal Family's Instagram caption reads. "In the photograph Her Majesty and His Royal Highness are seen looking at an anniversary card made by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, alongside other cards and letters sent by well-wishers."

In the photo, Queen Elizabeth can be seen wearing her Chrysanthemum Brooch pinned to her dress. The brooch has special significance for the married couple. Her Majesty was first seen wearing the brooch, which is made of sapphires and diamonds, in the gardens at Broadlands in Hampshire during her honeymoon. When she and Prince Philip celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007, Queen Elizabeth wore the brooch in their official portraits.
