During his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the Green Bay Packers star quarterback revealed he's been offered a temporary guest hosting spot on 'Jeopardy!'
Rodgers will be among several celebrities who will serve as guest host in the coming weeks following the death of beloved longtime host Alex Trebek, who Rodgers referred to as "one of my idols growing up."
"They're doing some guest hosting spots and it's going to be released here pretty soon but I have the opportunity to do one of those," Rodgers told McAfee during his weekly 'Aaron Rodgers Tuesday' appearance.
Rodgers appeared on 'Celebrity Jeopardy!' in 2015 and finished with a final score of $8,399, which won $50,000 for his chosen charity, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer.
'Jeopardy!' aired its first episode taped after Trebek's death on Monday (January 11) with Ken Jennings, the highest-earning contestant in the show's history, serving as its first interim guest host. The recent tapings began on November 30, 22 days after Trebek passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
On Monday's airing, Jennings held back tears during the show's first episode without Trebek while paying tribute to his friend during his opening monologue.
"Sharing this stage with Alex Trebek was one of the greatest honors of my life," Jennings, 46, said during an opening monologue. "Not many things in life are perfect, but Alex did this job pretty much perfectly for more than 36 years — and it was even better up close. We were dazzled by his intelligence, his charm, his grace — really, there’s no other word for it. Like all ‘Jeopardy!’ fans, I miss Alex. Very much. And I thank him for everything he did for all of us."
Jennings won the 'Jeopardy!' "Greatest of All Time" tournament earlier in 2020 and holds the show records for most consecutive games won, highest winnings in regular-season play and the highest-earning total by a game show contestant.
