A Florida woman, Laura Garrett, 33, faces multiple charges after allegedly attacking a 72-year-old man wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat in Largo, Florida. The incident occurred on Tuesday (May 20) at Northeast Park and Paw Place. Garrett approached the man, identified as Garry Gama, to question his support for President Donald Trump, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News.
During the confrontation, Garrett allegedly poured the contents of a can on Gama's head and struck him with it, although she denies hitting him. After the altercation, Garrett reportedly jumped a fence and attempted to leave the scene. Police later located her, and during the arrest, she resisted by dropping to the ground and wrapping her legs around an officer, causing him to fall and bruise his knee. Garrett initially refused to provide her name to officers and continued to resist arrest until subdued by four officers.
Garrett has been charged with battery on a person 65 years or older, battery on a police officer, and obstructing or resisting an officer without violence. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Tuesday evening and released the following night.
