Vice President JD Vance fired back at California Gov. Gavin Newsom's sarcastic welcoming X post amid a family trip to Disneyland over the weekend.
Vance wrote, "Had a great time, thanks," in response to Newsom's post in which he wrote, "Hope you enjoy your family time, @JDVance. The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t."
Newsom's initial post re-shared another showing the vice president and his family walking through Disneyland's Bayou Country on Saturday (July 12). An estimated 100 to 150 protesters stood outside the Disneyland gates as the Vance family was reported to be at the 'Happiest Place on Earth' on Friday (July 11) and Saturday, the Orange County Register reported.
Protests also broke out elsewhere in Anaheim amid Vance's reported presence following immigration raids launched out by President Donald Trump's administration in recent months. A small crowd, which included several people waving Mexican flags, was reported to have gathered at the Grand California Hotel, which is located adjacent to Disneyland's main park and suspected to be where the Vance family was staying during the trip, according to KTLA.
Vance was reported to have visited the park with his wife, Usha, and at least two of their children during what was a private, non-political visit. The second family's visit came one day after two major ICE raids were launched on farms in Ventura County, which resulted in an estimated 200 suspected undocumented immigrants being detained by federal agents, as well as one person dying and others being critically injured, FOX 11 reports.
