LOS ANGELES (CNS)- A 39-year-old man was arrested in Phoenix after allegedly stabbing a woman to death in downtown Los Angeles last month, authorities announced Thursday.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of South Hope Street, near West 12th Street, around 12:30 a.m., April 22 to a report of a "suspicious death investigation" in which Amy Albeno-Mendoza, 29, was discovered dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office conducted a postmortem examination of Albeno-Mendoza's body and concluded that she died as the result of a stab wound.
LAPD Central Bureau Homicide detectives and FBI Fugitive Task Force agents investigated the death and on May 4, identified Robert Hughes as a suspect. Hughes was located at a Phoenix homeless shelter and arrested.
