Despite significant opposition, Christopher Hubbart, known as the "Pillowcase Rapist," has been released to the Juniper Hills community in Antelope Valley, Los Angeles County. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced the decision, highlighting the strong resistance from his office, elected officials, and local residents.

Hubbart, who has a history of sexual violence with convictions in 1973, 1982, and 1990, was released from Coalinga State Hospital. His placement in Juniper Hills was approved by the Los Angeles County Superior Court, despite concerns about the safety risks posed to the community.

KTLA reports that the community was given a 48-hour notice of his release, which was kept confidential within the housing committee. This is the third attempt to release Hubbart, as previous releases in 2014 and 2018 were revoked due to violations of his terms.

The placement has sparked outrage among local officials and residents, who feel that their community is being unfairly burdened with such placements. VVNG.com reports that the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station has pledged to increase law enforcement presence in the area to address safety concerns.

District Attorney Hochman emphasized the difficulties in monitoring Hubbart and the unacceptable safety risks for Juniper Hills and surrounding areas. The DA’s office, along with community partners, remains committed to safeguarding the residents and ensuring public safety.
