On Saturday runners will participate in the Altadena to Palisades ultra-marathon relay to raise funds for wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles. Organized by the Silver Lake Track Club, the 31-mile (50k) journey will start at the Good Neighbor Bar in Altadena and conclude at Will Rogers Beach in Pacific Palisades.
Participants can choose to run the entire distance solo, form relay teams of up to five people, or run any segment of the course. The event is not a race but a celebratory run aimed at reflecting and re-energizing efforts to rebuild areas affected by wildfires. The route includes checkpoints approximately every 10 kilometers, with stops at local establishments such as Found Coffee in Eagle Rock and Superba in Hollywood.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to local fire relief and rebuilding organizations, including the Altadena Mountain Rescue and the Santa Monica Mountain Fund. Runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt and sunglasses, with support from sponsors like ASICS and Bandit Running.
The event encourages community involvement, inviting all run clubs and individuals to participate. Those unable to run can contribute by making donations or volunteering at aid stations. The finish line celebration at Will Rogers Beach will feature refreshments and a chance for participants to relax and enjoy the beach.
