Descanso Gardens kicked off its annual Enchanted Forest of Light this weekend, drawing crowds undeterred by steady rainfall. The immersive nighttime installation in La Cañada Flintridge features a mile-long pathway filled with glowing oak groves, illuminated lanterns, and the popular field of color-changing tulips that has become a social media favorite.
An entire town of “stained glass” houses by contemporary sculptor Tom Fruin lights up the main lawn, which also features plenty of places to gather with friends and family while you listen to the chill music piped through the forest. A fan favorite is the sparkling geometric installations and Flower Power, a field of tulips that looks like a technicolor fever dream

The event also features popular food and drink items like the Pecan Cinnamon Bun, churros, a variety of pizza's and a returning favorite, hot chocolate.
Visitors making their first-ever trip told KFI’s Heather Brooker they were “blown away” by the experience, saying the rain only made the lights feel "just gorgeous."
The event runs nightly through early January, with tickets priced between $35 and $45, depending on date and time. You'll need reservations, as the garden limits entry to timed sessions to manage crowds.
Descanso Gardens officials encourage guests to dress warmly and prepare for one of Southern California’s most beloved holiday traditions.
