On Monday night, the board of trustees in the west Chicago suburb town of Oak Park sought to rewrite their diversity statement adding “we work to break down systems of oppression.”
Trustee Dan Moroney chimed in saying “I hesitate to send the message to our police department that they are a system of oppression.”
This infuriated woke, white liberal trustee Susan Buchanan who yelled back “you have been white from birth! Why are you arguing, what is a system of oppression? You have never experienced one!”
Some in the attendance applauded Buchanan’s grandstanding.
She continued, “you have not spent a day with dark brown skin and tried to walk through this society!...You are not oppressed and people in Oak Park are and we are trying to recognize that as a community...we have a chance to make history.It is time for this community to face equity.Enough.You stop it, you are a white male, stop it...You are a white male.”
Moroney responded, “I think if we reduce these conversations to ‘nobody cares what you think because you are a white male’,I don’t think we are doing this right.”
